U15s enjoy win over rivals Academy
Captain, Zach Weatherhead, won the toss and chose to bowl first. Larne opened the bowling attack with Aaron McFall and David Fitzsimmons, who bowled well before being replaced by Richard Hood and Terry O’Donnell.
Academy’s batsmen were finding runs hard to come by and the Larne attack was taking wickets regularly. Only Christopher Torrens made double-figures, hitting a superb 15 before being caught off the bowling of Fitzsimmons.

Aaron McKinley and Michael Wilson were the next change bowlers, with McKinley only conceding two runs off two overs. The Larne bowlers were well supported by some good fielding and at the end of their allotted 20 overs, Academy had scored 79 for 8.
Larne set about the chase with some confidence. The opening pairing of Weatherhead and Wilson was soon broken when Weatherhead was bowled for two.
Richard Hood was next in at three, but he soon had a new partner when Wilson was also bowled, this time for three.
Aaron McKinley joined Hood and this duo set about building the foundations of a match-winning partnership. They played the bowling on its merits, taking quick singles and punishing the loose delivery. Having moved the score on to 65, and needing just 15 to win, McKinley was bowled, having hit a very valuable 17 runs.
