SWIMMING: Conor Ferguson makes it eight Irish records at McCullagh Memorial meet
The 16-year-old, who lives in Jordanstown, broke records in both heats and finals of the 50m, 100m and 200m Backstroke events across the weekend which included six junior and two senior records.
Ferguson’s latest records came in the 200m backstroke; he broke the junior record in Sunday’s heats in 02:2.18 and went under that time in the final in 2:01.56 to break Karl Burdis’ 2009 senior record and take gold.

Hide AdDanielle Hill, also of Larne Swimming Club, broke her fifth and sixth records of the weekend in the 50m freestyle and 200m backstroke.
The Carnmoney teen broke Fiona Doyle’s (26.39) 50m freestyle junior record to take gold in 26.08 seconds.
Just 15 minutes later the 17-year-old was back in the pool for the 200m backstroke where she broke her own record in 2:16.09, holding off Scotland’s Jennifer King (2:16.69) and Megan Briggs (2:17.84).
