Carrick came alive with first Mayor’sShow and parade
It was to feature a colourful parade of floats accompanied by music featuring a number of marching bands.
The fun was to begin with a BMX demonstration organised by Madigan Cycles and was expected to appeal to boys and girls alike.

Hide AdThe carpark was to be the venue for a display of old and modern vehicles by Carrickfergus Motor Company.
The RUC band was to march from the castle before providing entertainment at Castle Green.
The floats were to be judged with a prize for the Best in Show to be awarded the Mayor’s Trophy.
The mayor of Carrick was Independent councillor Alderman Charles Johnston.

Hide AdThe parade was to begin at Kennedy Drive with a presentation of awards before making its way along North Road; Sunnylands; Woodburn Road; Marine Highway; Joymount and Taylor’s Avenue.
Bands taking part were Third Carrickfergus Silver Band; Carrickfergus Amateur Silver Band and McAllister Memorial Flute Band.
