With eight teams participating, two from each of the four provinces, it was always going to be tough ask.

Hide AdBob Jellie and partner Mark Kyle had a very good score of 39 points as did team captain Frank Wallace and partner Tommy Mearns. The fourth pair Al McCune and John McGrath scored a credible 37 points.
The best three cards totalled 115 points but this was dwarfed by the winning team’s score of 130. Leinster qualifiers Lucan Golf Club won the Jimmy Carroll Cup for the second year in a row, beating off a great challenge from Connaught qualifiers Tuam Golf Club.
Lucan are near neighbours of Westmanstown, maybe the local knowledge was to their advantage this year.
Nonetheless, the Rockmount team had a great day out and will look forward to entering and bettering this year’s performance in 2015.

On Tuesday evening, team captain Barry Douds welcomed Clandeboye to Rockmount for the second leg.
Andy Gregge was out first, after his narrow defeat at Clandeboye, he was determined to get a point at home; his match went down to the last hole before he secured the victory.
Similarly, Mark Wynne out second was beaten last week at Clandeboye but fared much better at home winning his match four and three.
