Town U16s edged out in Dublin Cup final after an impressive run
Played over the weekend, Banbridge can hold their heads high after putting in a tremendous effort to reach the Umbro Shield final.
Having seen off Swords Celtic on the Friday 3-2, with all goals coming from new signing Eoin Byrne in the second half, the Banbridge outfit continued where they left off on the Saturday morning beating Laytown with ease 3-0.

St Patrick’s Athletic, however, proved a step too far as the locals battled against the deteriorating elements and a few injuries to key players they eventually went down 3-0.
The Town regrouped for the Shield Final on the Sunday and ran top Dublin side Home Farm to the wire, narrowly going down 2-0 in the end.
Although disappointed to go home with only runners up medals, the lads can feel proud of their performances over the whole weekend, considering they have only had one training session since the summer break and have introduced five new players to their squad. They can eagerly look forward to the start of the new season in September.
