Newtownabbey’s Jordan Thompson was named Man of the Match and Player of the Tournament in the Premier Section of the Dale Farm Milk Cup.
Thompson, a former Glengormley High School pupil who had previously been at Linfield, played an integral role as Manchester United lifted the Milk Cup for a fifth time.
Cameron Borthwick-Jackson’s header, which came early in the second half, was enough for United to see off French side Vendee at the Ballymena Showgrounds on Friday evening.

The local connections in the United squad didn’t stop there. Ex-Northern Ireland and Hull City goalkeeper, Alan Fettis, was part of the Red Devils’ coaching staff at the tournament.
