Four star City move into pole position
Soon after City doubled their advantage when a long ball out of defence by Dermot McCaffrey saw McDaid get in behind the Wanderers defence and bravely lifted the ball over the out-rushing Quigley and into the net.
The match was effectively over as a contest just before the break when the home side were reduced to ten men.

Hide AdPatterson latched onto Ruaidhri Higgins pass before rounding Quigley inside the box and although the Northern Ireland international was brought down inside the area and the keeper was shown a straight red card by referee Anthony Buttimer, even though it looked as although defender Pierce Sweeney seemed to be the culprit that brought Patterson down.
After Wanderers brought on reserve keeper Brian Kane for Kevin Knight, Patterson dusted himself down and coolly slotted home the resulting spot-kick, for his first goal in League of Ireland football.
Declan Devine’s side dominated things in the second half but they only added one goal after the break, but what a goal it was.
Patrick McEleney’s inch perfect 20 yard pass with the outside of his right foot released Patterson, who showed super skill to get away from Dean Massey, before calmly placing the ball past an out-rushing Kane.
