Balmer does the ‘trick’ in Carniny under-17s’ victory
The game against North West opponents Institute, saw the Ballymena boys come back from 2-1 down to win the game 3-2 in the dying minutes courtesy of a Tyrone Balmer hat trick that included two penalty kicks!
Institute started this game the livelier and opened the scoring within five minutes when their influential No 6 was allowed to run into the Carniny penalty area and slot the ball past Owen Marquess in the Carniny goal.

Hide AdCarniny came more into the game with Michael Hagan and James Price causing the Institute defence problems on the wings and both delivering some excellent dead balls. Camryn Millar and Tyrone Balmer went close with a couple of half chances.
Institute were always a threat and Carniny’s defence with Luke Calderwood outstanding, had to be alert on several occasions to thwart their attacks. Near the end of the half Carniny were awarded a penalty when Krystian Jaworski was fouled in the area and Tyrone Balmer scored to make the score 1-1.
It was Institute who were to score the next goal when some slick play left one of their players clear and he placed his shot past Marquess.
Within five minutes of Institute scoring Carniny had won another penalty when a good passing move left James Price clear on goal only to be brought down by the Institute goalkeeper.
