Double final victory for Bolton
BALLYMONEY’S Alastair Bolton was back to his best with a heat and double final victory in the Stock Rod class at Ballymena Raceway on Friday evening.
The former Irish Champion served notice of his intentions with a comfortable victory in the opening heat and then settled for second in race two behind Portadown’s Lee Johnston.

Hide AdCome final time however Bolton was back up to full speed and steered his Vauxhall Nova home for his first final win of the season. Runner-up William Laffin stayed in touch with the winner throughout, with Freddie Laffin further back in third.
In the other classes there was a first ever final win for Two-Litre Hot Rod driver Ed Litter in round two of the Hoosier Tires / LJN DeSigns Series, Nigel Doherty won the Wm. McMaster Perpetual Shield in the Group Two Lightning Rod class and Bradley McKinstry took the Junior Rod award for the second week in a row.

This weekend
The action continues at Ballymena Raceway this Friday (September 3) when the 2010 Junior Rod Stadium Champion will be crowned. A real battle is expected between big rivals Sean McFerran and Dean McCrory in that one, with James Steele and Daniel Shannon two other contenders for the title. The DmAc Coachworks sponsored meeting also features action from the F2 Stock Car, Saloon Stock Car, Stock Rod and Group Two Lightning Rod classes, with the first race getting underway in the Ballymena Showgrounds at 7:15pm.
