Households receiving wheelie boxes will also get a new streamlined 180 litre bin for household waste to replace their current black bin, in a further bid to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill.
According to the council, bin swaps will take place from Monday, May 2 to Friday, May 13.
Launching the latest phase of the initiative, Mayor Thomas Hogg commented: “Residents in our borough are great at recycling and to help make this process quicker and easier, new triple stack wheelie boxes are being distributed to households across the Newtownabbey area.
