Councillor Cheryl Johnston has welcomed the new 40mph zone that has been introduced between Beltoy Road and Tongue Loanen.
In a statement, she said: “After being contacted by residents from the new Larne Road development highlighting their concerns about the excessive speeding, I contacted Transport NI to suggest the extension be incorporated past the residential area.
“It has been passed and I am very pleased, hopefully this will have a positive affect for the residents and reduce the speeding through to Eden village.”
Recently, the Times highlighted a campaign to have the speed limit at Larne Road, outside Eden Primary School, on the main A2 thoroughfare to be reduced to 20 mph.
