Town to feature in BBC’s ‘Coast’
A production crew from the series ‘Coast’, led by presenter Nick Crane, were snapped along the shore in the village last Friday afternoon by local man Cameron Moore.
A keen birdwatcher and photographer, it was admittedly not the type of ‘crane’ usually spotted by Mr Moore.

“I would watch the programme so I recognised the presenter right away.
“They continued on up to the bottom car park towards Blackhead path and the lighthouse, so I imagine they must have been doing a bit of filming down there as well.”
Although few details are available on what exactly will be featured in the next series of Coast, a BBC spokesperson confirmed that the segments filmed in Whitehead are due to be broadcast next year.

The BAFTA-winning documentary series has previously filmed at a number of other locations in Northern Ireland.
Series one, episode six, saw Nick Crane undertake a cycling journey along the Coast Road, while series two, episode five showcased the bast of the coastline from Londonderry to Dublin - including the salt mines in Carrickfergus.
“It has been featured in other Coast programmes in passing as well,” the spokesperson added.

Mr Moore told the Times: “I filmed a pod of about 20 dolphins a few weeks ago from the promenade; I’ve heard reports of them at the Gobbins before.”
