Town Hall facing demolition threat
Consultants have told the new Mid and East Antrim Council’s ‘financial opportunities oversight legislature’ which is charged with securing best value for local ratepayers that the shape of the old town hall will simply not comply with today’s health and safety requirements.
The move to dismantle the town hall is to be discussed behind closed doors at the new super council’s first official meeting in Ballymena last night.

Hide AdIt is hoped that the majestic Portland stone building - a masterpiece of 1920s art deco architecture - will be dismantled stone by stone and relocated at the Ulster Folk Museum’s outdoor display area at Cultra.
A source told the Ballymena Times that the Financial Opportunities Oversight Legislature (FOOL) was in uproar over the plans.
