Temporary ice rink approved for Portrush
Council have agreed to a request from the ‘Ice to Go Company’ to provide a portable ‘real ice’ rink facility, which will be situated at the tennis courts at Ramore Head Recreation Grounds, for the months of July and August.
“This is a new attraction, which is not weather dependant, adding to the tourism offering in Portrush, which is anticipated to obe a benefit to the resort,” explained council officer Alex Carmichael.

Deputy Mayor, Cllr Mark Fielding, welcomed the proposal.
“I would highly recommend that we back this proposal,” he said.
“This rink can hold up to 200 people and is not weather dependant as it is covered by a marquee.
“If this proves to be successful hopefully we can make it a regular thing.”

“I can accept that in this pilot year we are maybe not charging a rent, but we have to remember that this is a business who are in it to make money so we should look at charging rent in the future,” he said.
