St Killian’s receives defibrillator as part of WPFG legacy
Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure Minister Carál Ní Chuilín presented the equipment on Monday to principal Mr Jonny Brady, head boy Ronan McAuley and head girl Hannah McIlwaine.
Mr Brady said:“We are very pleased to accept this defibrillator on behalf of St Killian’s. As a school community we are committed to assisting the health and welfare of everyone in the school, both staff and students.

“We also run, in conjunction with our school nurse Mrs Grainne Harkin, a very successful Heart Start programme as part of Sixth Form Enrichment and we will look towards incorporating this defibrillator training into that programme.”
The training will be undertaken in the second term by the Red Cross and it is expected that some of those trained will be students. The defibrillator will be accessible to all in the college community and is aimed at closing the gap between reaction to a medical emergency and arrival of an ambulance.
