Six teens convicted of sexual offences
SIX youth court convictions in Londonderry involved sexual offences over the years 2005 and 2006 - the highest rate of convictions anywhere in Northern Ireland - according to Justice Minister David Forde.
Responding to a query from Lord Morrow the Minister advised three 10-17 year olds were convicted for sexual offences at the youth court in Londonderry in 2005 and a further three were convicted the following year.
The data cover the calendar years 2005 and 2006 (the latest year for which figures are currently available) and are collated on the principal offence rule; only the most serious offence for which an offender is convicted is included.
