“I saw the scholarship as a way of enhancing university with first class project experience,” he said.
The company expanded its successful IT Scholarship Programme this year by awarding places to four of the Province’s best IT and Engineering students. The other recipients along with Colum are based at Queen’s University, Belfast and each of the four students have secured a scholarship package worth up to £25,000.
Since its launch, 42 leading IT and Engineering students across the UK have been placed on the programme.

As part of the programme, Civica’s new scholars get the opportunity to work alongside talented professionals during paid summer and year out placements.
The Civica Scholarship Programme was launched in 2008 with the co-operation of leading universities in Northern Ireland and the West Midlands, England. It was set up with the aim to nurture fresh talent in the UK IT sector, said the Managing director of Civica Digital Solutions Ireland, Angela Canavan.
In bringing the ceremony to a close, Ms Canavan said: “At Civica we encourage our people to develop their full potential in an open and supportive environment.
