Residents return to homes after security alert
Detailing the incident, a PSNI spokesperson said: “Police attended the scene of a security alert at a house on the North Road in Carrickfergus shortly after 8pm on Tuesday, July 31, following the discovery of a number of suspicious objects.
“The area was cordoned off, and ATO tasked to examine the objects, which were later declared as nothing untoward.
“The North Road was re-opened at around midnight.”

Hide AdThe Times understands Carrick Leisure Centre was made available for residents who were evacuated from their homes during the incident.
Following the closure, East Antrim UUP MLA John Stewart said: “The incident is now finished and PSNI will make contact with any residents who left their homes earlier.
“It is a great relief that the incident was not sinister and appears to have been a false alarm.”
