Pupils get on board Cool FM Media Bus
The topic for the day was ‘Road Safety’, and the Year 10 pupils had to develop radio commercials stressing the importance of being ‘alert’ and ‘visible’ whilst out and about.
The young people got the opportunity to write scripts, make recordings and edit audio clips.

Hide AdCompetition on board the bus was rife as Cool FM DJ Sonya Mac was there to judge the best productions and select 16 pupils to visit the Cool FM studios.
“The visit was arranged by Mrs McKay, who is delighted that the pupils had this opportunity, not only to get involved in the new technology, but to work collectively as groups and delegate jobs and responsibilities within those groups. This was a valuable learning experience for all involved.
“All the pupils commented on how much they enjoyed the event and how much they learned,” a school spokesperson commented.
The 16 lucky pupils chosen by Sonya Mac will travel to the Cool FM studios in Newtownards in March.
