PUP man appeals for Monkstown bonfire site clean-up
The fly-tipped materials, which also included items of furniture, have since been burned, but Mr Logan said that the area has been left in a mess. He has also called for sectarian graffiti painted in the vicinity of the bonfire site to be removed.
“I have received numerous calls regarding what one caller described as ‘the annual eyesore’ at Abbeytown Square,” Mr Logan explained.

Hide Ad“While I fully support the tradition of the 11th night bonfires, I have arranged a meeting with bonfire organisers to establish if they wish to participate in Newtownabbey Council’s bonfire protocol, set up to deal with bonfire safety and other issues such as the burning of tyres.”
Mr Logan said that he has called for the removal of materials from the site until discussions with the bonfire organisers have taken place.
