Givan ‘deeply concerned’ over pedestrian crossing refusal
Paul Givan said he was “flabbergasted” by the response he received and told the Council’s planning committee he believed the Roads Service’s decision not to carry out any new assessments, is wrong.
“Due to the construction of new housing developments and young families living in the area, many of whom now attend Pond Park Primary School, there are road safety concerns for many parents living in the area” he said.

He continued: “Does it take someone to lose their life for action to happen?” Mr Givan proposed the Council arrange a meeting with the Roads Minister Danny Kennedy to discuss the Department’s policy and assessments for pedestrian crossings.
The Committee agreed to seek a meeting with the Minister.
