Over £600 was raised and the South Down UUP Assembly candidate said he was delighted that the event was such an overwhelming success.
“The South Down Unionist Association organised this coffee morning and the turn-out was a reflection of the support for this charity,” he said.

“The family of the late Stephen McKee who was killed in Afghanistan just a few weeks ago attended, and hopefully they were heartened by the level of public support.
“I was honoured and humbled to chat with his parents Bobby and Heather and wife Carley. They are so proud of everything their son achieved in life, and I am sure the community will continue to keep them in their thoughts and prayers in the weeks and months ahead.”
Association Secretary Glenn Barr also thanked everyone for attending. “This charity does excellent work providing support for our wounded soldiers and I’m glad our event will go some way to helping families.”
