Opera house and football club themes for Carrick historians
Over the course of the new season, talks on a wide variety of topics are planned by the local historians including the Grand Opera House, costal defences, the history of Carrick Rangers Football Club and folklore and ghosts.
The September talk will be given by Áine Dolan on the history of the majestic Grand Opera House which has delivered laughter, tears and applause since 1895.

Hide AdÁine will explore the history of the theatre since opening its doors to the public for the first time more than a century ago.
The talk will be held in the Dobbs Room, Carrickfergus Town Hall, on Wednesday, September 25, at 8.00pm.
All talks are open to non-members. Charges: members £2 and non-members £3.
