As well as upgrades to the existing parking area and paths, a new path towards the river is almost complete.
Trail furniture and timber play equipment has now been installed at the trailhead and integrated into the landscape along the trail as it makes its way to the summit, with the inclusion of log walk weavers, stepping stones and balance beams giving plenty of opportunity for off-track play.

Council Chair, Councillor Cathal Mallaghan welcomed the new improvements to the trails and outdoor play facilities at Moydamlaght.
He said: “Open spaces and recreational opportunities are an essential part of a thriving community, especially during the pandemic when our physical and mental health is improved by getting touch with nature.
“The completion of this phase of the Moydamlaght upgrade project with the sensitive installation of natural play equipment within the landscape will provide increased access to recreational opportunities and experiences for our local young people, who we hope will use the new equipment for recreational play as part of their family visit to the Forest.”
