Covid signage at play parks under review after concerns raised by Newtownabbey parents

Several parents voiced concerns about the ‘Covid-19 kills-maintain social distancing’ signs erected at Jordanstown Loughshore play park at the weekend.
One woman, who contacted the Times, said: “A total of 12 signs have been placed around Jordanstown Loughshore park saying ‘Covid 19 kills’. This is at a children’s play park!

Hide Ad“The first rule of communications - know your audience. It is a complete and utter disgrace. We need to have the decision overturned and some age-appropriate signs put up in their place.”
In a statement, a spokesperson for the local authority said: “The council has put in place Covid-19 social distancing signs at council facilities in numerous locations right across the borough.
“The council is aware of the importance of social distancing and other guidance, and continues to support the public to live through Covid-19.
“The signs were put in place to target parents. The aim of the signs is to highlight the seriousness of the health message.
