Carrickfergus Grammar choir in fine voice at 20th anniversary Choirs for Christmas
The North Road singers travelled to Limerick for the 20th anniversary event at the University Concert Hall featuring the Irish Chamber Orchestra.
As part of the concert, the choir performed ‘Love Came Down At Christmas’ arranged by Ronnie Lee, Sir Christèmas by William Mathias and the ever-popular Jingle Bells arranged by David Willcocks.

Hide AdEdward Craig, head of music at the school, said: “It was also a privilege to listen to the other brilliant choirs which ranged from a primary school to professional adult choirs and small vocal groups.
“Thankfully the audience enjoyed our performances and during the interval we were given a new piece of music to sing … in the second half.
“It was a great weekend and everyone really stepped up to the occasion.
“You can tune in to hear the concert at 1pm on Christmas Day – what better way to enjoy your Christmas dinner!”

Hide AdMeanwhile, a number of members of the choir visited Carrickfergus Manor for a seasonal sing along with residents of the nursing home.
One relative wrote to the school afterwards in praise of the young people, stating: “When visiting my mother at Carrickfergus Manor, I came across a performance of Christmas carols by pupils from your school. The choir sang fantastically well, but also with genuine warmth. As a former pupil I have never been so proud of my old school.”
