Pupils take their place on school council
“The school council has been up and running for three years now and has really offered the opportunity for the pupils to have their voices heard,” explained vice-principal Ciaran Conway.
“The primary 4 to primary 7 classes have been thinking about the things that they would like to improve in the school. Already the school council have improved the dinner rota, fundraised and bought football nets and organised ginger bread men on the school dinner menu!”

Hide AdLast month, candidates who wanted to run for office read out their manifestoes before pupils got the chance to cast their votes.
On Friday, January 10, Alderman Agnew and parents of the elected councillors were invited to a special assembly.
“The Mayor presented each of the newly elected councillors with a ‘badge of office’ and invited them to the Newtownabbey Council offices to hold one of their meetings and to have a tour of the building. It was a very proud moment for the pupils and their parents,” Mr Conway added.
