The event was, in fact, held to mark the official reforming of Convoy’s Thiepval Memorial Pipe Band in County Donegal.
The band was reformed by the members of the Convoy Thiepval Memorial Orange Lodge and the Apprentice Boys Club members.

Had it not been for an act of wanton vandalism in October last year, when Convoy Orange Hall was so severely damaged that it was put out of use, the event would have been held at the Orange Hall.
Notwithstanding, a large crowd gathered for the event, which was followed by a curry evening, complete with entertainment, including bouncy castle for the younger generation an some of the braver adults.
There has always been a piping tradition in Convoy, dating back at least to early in the last century.
