New license application for jailed driver
Kurtis Armstrong, 31, of Ivy Hill, was banned from driving in 2008 after the deaths of four Lisburn Institute of Higher and Further Education students.
His passengers Graeme Waring, from Lisburn, Joseph McDonald, from Belfast and Ian Currie and Philip McMurray, both from Banbridge, were all killed in February 2004 when Armstrong’s Vauxhall Corsa SRI smashed into trees before landing on its roof.

Hide AdArmstrong’s ban is not due to end until 2020 but after serving his jail sentence he has applied for a new licence. The grounds given were that he was “no longer in custody and had served in excess of half of his disqualification.”
The application has been adjourned.
