MLA takes action on overgrown verges in Carrick
John Stewart was one of those who set to work cutting grass at junctions along Marshallstown Road on Tuesday evening.
The Ulster Unionist representative decided to take action after failing to receive a "clear answer" from TransportNI on when the work would be carried out.

"Our work isn't perfect but hopefully it will do a job increasing visibility for drivers until roads service contractors manage to get down and cut it themselves," Mr Stewart said.
"We [will be] back out this evening doing other notable junctions around the town including Broadlands, and will also be cutting outside Woodlawn school following requests from staff and parents there."
A similar grass-cutting programme is being organised in the Larne area by fellow UUP representative, MEA councillor Andrew P Wilson.

"I am also happy to support other requests to see some areas left to grow naturally so that wildlife and flowers can flourish," he added.
