Mayor hosts reception for promising young flautist
Adam began his studies on the flute at the age of 10, under Lisburn flautist and teacher, Mr Brian Houston, where at the age of 12 he gained his grade 8 with distinction under the ABRSM.
At 14 years old Adam sat his ATCL diploma with Trinity College London, where he again passed with distinction.

Hide AdHis last and most recent success was passing his FTCL at the age of 17 and Adam hopes to secure a position in one of the household division regimental bands in the near future. Adam joined the 1st battalion ACF Corp of Drums two years ago and has played in the Hillsborough castle 2011 Royal Salute, and in the Inverness Tattoo. This year he attended the army cadet force national music camp in Liverpool and won the competition for best student bandmaster and the best cadet musician in the UK.
Alderman Leathem said: “May I extend my warmest and most sincere congratulations to Adam and wish him well in his musical endeavours. Talent like this should be nurtured and progressed and there is no doubt Adam has an exciting and amazing future in front of him,” the Mayor concluded.
