Mayor and Deputy Mayor to attend Commemoration
The Association welcomed representation from each Party to reflect the totality of service from our community.
At the meeting of the Corporate, Policy and Resources Committee it was proposed by Sinn Fein Councillor Philip McGuigan that two members of the council attend instead four saying: “I think it’s important members attend but we need discussion as to how the two are picked.”

Hide Ad“Councillor Stephanie Quigley added: “Myself and Councillor McKillop attended Gallipoli and I agree with Councillor McGuigan that just two members attend. Perhaps send the Mayor and Deputy Mayor.”
Councillor Duddy agreed with Councillor Quigley’s suggestion, “I agree that the two leading citizens should be there to represent the Borough.”
Councillor Aaron Callan added that “It might also be worth considering people who haven’t yet had the chance to represent the council.”
Councillor McGuigan agreed with Councillor Quigley’s suggestion before the proposal to send two council members and that they should be the Mayor and Deputy Mayor to the Commemoration of the Battle of the Somme was carried by the the Committee members.
