Magherafelt man Francis Stewart battles back from crash to present cheque for Charis charity
Francis, was a key member of the support team for his close friend Paul McErlain who completed a staggering 770km endurance event from Mizen Head in Cork to Malin Head in Donegal.
Together, ‘Team Casper’ raised a fantastic £10,575 for Charis for which Paul’s late mother Bertie was a trustee and dedicated supporter.

“I also want to acknowledge the efforts of Team Casper, Aimee Mc Erlain, Kevin Murphy, Francis Stewart, Alvin Taylor, Julian Grimes and Joe McVey, who accompanied me throughout the 3 days of the event. My mother’s involvement with Charis was a major driving force in helping me to succeed.”
Paul added: “My post race euphoria has been tinged with sadness since my close friend Francis Stewart who accompanied me during this endurance event was seriously injured in a cycling accident.
“I have an opportunity to help Francis by assisting the Magherafelt Harriers to organise a fund raising event for Francis on Saturday 17 October. I would ask people to support this event which will help Francis on his road to recovery.”
