Magherafelt farmer caused unnecessary suffering to animal which had to be put down
A Magherafelt farmer has been convicted of one charge of causing unnecessary suffering to a bovine animal.
Ian Wilson, Ballydermot Road, Castledawson, Magherafelt, pleaded guilty and was fined £300 plus a £15 offender’s levy.
This case arose from an anonymous complaint by a member of the public to the DARD. Veterinary Service Officers visited Mr Wilson’s farm and discovered an animal with a fractured leg, in the opinion of the Veterinary Officer the animal had the injury for some time. The Veterinary Officer euthanased the animal to prevent it suffering further.
