Human rights concerns raised with commission
Commissioners, accompanied by staff, heard from a range of organisations and community groups including Women’s Aid, Ulidia Integrated College, Carrickfergus Community Forum, Carrickfergus Borough Council and the PSNI
Chief Commissioner Les Allamby said: “We’re very grateful to the people and organisations in Carrickfergus who met with us and gave us a chance to hear first-hand what human rights issues are facing local groups and individuals.

Hide Ad“The commission will continue to factor in the information we receive on community visits into our ongoing programme of work in 2015.”
The visit was part of the NIHRC’s on-going programme of community visits across Northern Ireland.
At Ulidia, head prefect Thomas Adams welcomed Mr Allamby, Commissioners Christine Collins and Alan McBride and Kellie Turtle, education worker.
Thomas had the opportunity to voice his concerns regarding young people in the local community and “how our local authorities could become more involved with School Events”.
“It was a very enjoyable visit and Ulidia look forward to working with the Commissioner in the future,” added the school in a statement.
