God's love is sure
Do you love me is a question asked in many circumstances… at the beginning of a serious relationship. At a bitter end to a relationship. We are all anxious to be loved and to be reassured of this love. So love is a basic human need.
In his book ‘How not to Pray’ Jeff Lucas addresses this question. “Are we loved? There is a sure answer to the agonising query, and it is a definite yes. But how can we humans, stumbling and fumbling around in the dark as we are, know that love? We may hear that there is a God whose name and primary identity is love, but where are the tokens and expressions of His love to be found? We can catch a whisper of romance from creation. Extravagant sunsets seem to carry the signature of a loving artist who nightly signs off the day with the flourish of a fluorescent pen. Towering mountains point towards more than cold design, and boom the deep bass resonance of solid dependable love. The fingerprint of the Lover is clearly stamped across everything that He has made”.
