Election 1910 - Ballymena history
It shows Sir Arthur O’Neill of the famous Shane’s Castle family, canvassing in Henry Street, Harryville during the Westminster election of 1910.
In those days the constituency was known as Mid-Antrim. The tall man beside O’Neill is George Young whose family operated the Braidwater Mill which was a huge local employer.

Hide AdThe Orange Arch has been painted with supportive slogans. To the right of the picture can be seen the ‘half-door’ houses which will still be remembered by many Harryville folk.
They sit on what is now the pavement edge of what is commonly known as ‘Ken’s Car Park’.
