Residents got to work on July 18 to collect rubbish from around Davys Street, Belfast Road, Lower Windmill, Minorca Place and the Irish Quarter.
Despite a heavy downpour interrupting efforts in the afternoon, participants gathered over 30 bags of rubbish.

Hide AdAl Creighton from Davys Street Residents Association said: “A big reduction in carrier bags and other waste originating from the local Tesco and Sainsbury’s stores has been greatly noticed compared to our last clean-ups. Other large items like rugs and a TV were collected.”
Meanwhile, the event concluded with a free barbecue. “We hope the elderly and some others in the community enjoyed the ‘free barbecue grub to your doors’ in the blustery weather,” added Mr Creighton.
