Critically ill baby given a chance at life
Colum Canavan (26) from Killen, outside Coalisland, who was killed in an accident at the weekend, and Lee Campbell (14) who died at hospital in England following a severe asthma attack at his Moneymore home a week ago have both donated their organs to help others in need of urgent transplants.
Lee’s parents David and Samantha who made the heartbreaking decision to switch off their son’s life support machine, have given permission for his organs to benefit other children in the hope of saving lives. Lee’s heart has apparently gone to a 13-year-old London boy, while his small bowel was donated to a critically-ill baby who was born without one.

Meanwhile, a statement on Sperrin Integrated College’s (Magherafelt) website where Lee was a pupil, expressed the school community’s heartfelt sympathy to his family.
