Council to investigate after 13 horses stranded on island near Toome
Mid Ulster District Council's animal welfare officers are to investigate after 13 horses were left stranded on an island near Toome - and three were found dead.
It is understood that rising flood waters left the animals unable to get back to land after they travelled to Lough Beg along a causeway when water levels were low.
Volunteers from Portglenone based Community Rescue Service took hay and feed out to the remaining horses on Thursday.
