Butler hits out at Sinn Fein candidate's refusal to condemn murder of Edgar Graham
“Peter Doran is a law lecturer at Queen’s University, as Edgar Graham was when he was murdered on campus by the IRA in December 1983. At the time of the murder, Edgar Graham was also a democratically elected Ulster Unionist member of the Northern Ireland Assembly.
“A reasonable person might think that shooting a law lecturer in the head could only be described as a crime and merit condemnation.
“However, the best Peter Doran could manage was to express ‘profound sorrow’ at the death of Edgar Graham but he declined to say whether or not it was justified. This is simply shameful.”
