Bid to return Red Grouse to Lough Fea near Cookstown
Led by Ian Glendinning from Megargy & District Game & Conservation Society, the talk will take place at the revitalised habitat close to the Slaght Road car park at Lough Fea on Saturday, September 5th from 11.30am to 12.30pm.
Ian will detail the work undertaken by the Lough Fea Red Grouse Conservation Trust assisted by SGLP to restore, protect and enrich the heather moorland around the Lough to create improved habitat conditions for the birds.

Hide AdThis initiative brought together teams of local volunteers who carried out bracken control works, predator culls, controlled heather burning and seed harvesting amongst other activities designed to ensure the maintenance of the local Red Grouse population.
Everyone is invited to attend the FREE talk and learn more about these beautiful birds and the efforts to conserve and protect them.
The Red Grouse talk takes place on Saturday, September 5th from 11.30am to 12.30pm at Slaght Road car park, Lough Fea. Attendees are advised to wear suitable clothing.

“The Red Grouse is very important to this area and this work has been essential in helping to revitalise and protect their natural habitats and ensure their population continues to rise.
“This talk will be a very informative overview of that work and a chance to see these magnificent birds in their natural environment.”
The Red Grouse talk is the latest addition to a range of initiatives designed and delivered by SGLP to raise awareness of the Sperrins area and the wealth of history, heritage and beauty it has to offer.
