SLIDESHOW: Parkgate Donkey Derby pulls in the crowds
The weather was very favourable with the sun shining over the Six Mile Valley. Approximately 1000 people supported this event for Diabetes UK NI.
Many donkeys were shown off in their beauty and the pet owners were very proud of their precious pets. The children’s activities proved to be a success with many very competitive children participating in the many events to include Tractor Racing, Slippery Football, Catch the Egg.

Hide AdNot only were the children competitive lots of willing and able bodied adults competed in the wheel barrow race raising many a laugh amongst the crowd.
Teas, coffees and cake stall were also well supported to raise funds for this worthwhile charity. The vintage tractors, cars and lorries as well as the steam engines proved to be an attraction for all ages.
The main event of the day was the Donkey Derby and Donkey Chase. It was a great atmosphere with crowds jostling for a good position to view the antics of this event.
The donkey derby was won by Jim Monteith from Clabby, Fivemiletown and the Chase was won by Brian Taylor,Legoneil. The success of the day was reflected in £6000 approximately being raised.
Also many donations were received and gratefully accepted

A presentation night will be held in McConnell’s of Doagh on October 18 to Diabetes UK NI. Proceeds on the night will be for the Jonjo Bright Trust. Music by Philp Strange and DJ Graham. Admission £5 9 to late. All welcome
