Last summer, Kilraughts Young Farmers’ Club started a challenge throughout lockdown to complete 600 miles (the distance between all the Young Farmers clubs in Northern Ireland) in just one week.
They decided to complete this to help their members’ mental health during the pandemic, working alongside the Yellow Wellies – Mind Your Head campaign.
Mind Your Head is a week-long campaign that seeks to encourage those living and working in the agricultural industry to focus on health, wellbeing and safety and their intersections.
Kilraughts YFC members ran, walked and cycled a total of 1,027 miles - smashing their original target of 600. The club raised the astonishing amount of £1,440.50 for the campaign. The challenge was then passed onto other clubs around Northern Ireland who nearly tripled the money raised.
