Niamh’s is the top achieving star pupil at St Catherine’s
The daughter of Geraldine and Brian Haughian, Niamh studies at Sruth na Gaeilge, the Irish Medium stream of the school.
Both her parents, her brother Sean (20) and her sister Brianna who is coming 12 are very proud of her.

Hide AdNiamh was one of two students to attain such high marks at St Catherine’s.
Other Lurgan girls who study at Sruth na Gaeilge part of St Catherine’s also achieved top marks at GCSE.
Aoife Curran excelled and gained 3A*/6A/1B/1C while Eva Mallon gained 4A*/3A/3B.
Principal Deirdre McDonald said: “This year again GCSE Students at the school are celebrating their outstanding results with another bumper crop of A*/A grades!

Hide Ad“Two students scored 11 A*/A grades and a further 12 girls achieved nine or 10 A*/As! Overall, an amazing 34 students achieved at least six A*/A grades.
The principal congratulated all who worked so hard for the past two years to ensure such excellent results. “In the exam performance tables for 2012/13, published last week, St. Catherine’s College was best placed with 72% of pupils achieving five GCSEs including English and Maths – the highest proportion of any non-selective school in the North.
“The school has topped the non-grammar table four times since 2008 and is the only school to have recorded a 90% plus pass rate on four occasions,” she said.
