New drama workshops tackle race issues
The theatre company, in collaboration with Corrymeela Community/Irish Peace Centres, has announced the workshops as part of a new project ‘Acting for Change’ which is part-funded through the EU Peace III Programme.
The programme is promoted by Armagh City and District Council on behalf of the Southern Cluster Partnership which consists of the Banbridge, Armagh, Newry and Mourne and Craigavon council areas.

Hide AdThere will be 16 drama workshops in total - eight to promote anti-racism and eight to promote anti-sectarianism. They will be conducted with schools, youth groups and communities in the Banbridge and Craigavon, Armagh and Newry and Mourne districts.
“The aim is to use drama to break down silences and raise awareness of issues surrounding racism and sectarianism,” said a spokesperson. “They will take place in areas including those experiencing economic disadvantage and interface areas and will be accessible and informative for everyone taking part.”
