The Ballymena takeaway won The Good Food Guide accolade at the first ever NI Chip Shop Awards which took place on Friday, September 22, at the Park Plaza Hotel. Fellow nominees in the category were Flash in the Pan, Ballymoney, and The Golden Cod, Ballinderry. Star guests including former Miss Northern Ireland and Blue Peter presenter Zoe Salmon flew into Belfast for the glittering black tie event. Other guests attending the glittering ceremony at The Park Plaza Hotel at Belfast’s International Airport included Neighbours star Sam Clark, actress Olivia Nash, Sky TV’s celebrity wedding planners Ant & Dick, comedian John McBlain and awards host, Robin Elliott. A proud and delighted Brian Surgenor, owner of Fish & Chicken, was presented with his top award by Olivia Nash and managing director of Golden Glen, William Patterson.
